News Item: Hamilton Summer Open 2016: Another Successful Year

First of all I'd like to thank everyone for coming to our event. It was because of you all it was a success.
This year's Summer Open was not without its drama. William Hongyu Li wrote on facebook, that the only guy he beat was Richard Chen. The guy who happened to win the event. But in order to do that, Richard had to beat Dough Bailey, who was a full point ahead at the time...But Doug was a point ahead because of Richard's loss to William..and so on.
Final result for the open section was:
1st-2nd Doug Bailey and Richard Chen with 4 points each.
3rd-4th Eugene Hua and Jason Cai with 3.5.
In the under 2000 section there was a three way tie between Benjamin Lin, Alex Friedman and Alberto Ramola with 4 points each.
Emma He made sure that the only section that wouldn't have a Hamilton representative among the top finishers was the U1600 section. She did this by winning all 5 of her games.
We then had a complicated 5 way tie for second between Salim Belcadi, Bhargava Guntoori, David Shi, Allan She and William Ratelband. It should be understood that all these players came second even though a tie breaking formula was used to decide who would get our 3 remaining trophies.
The trophies were distributed as follows:
William Ratelband second place trophy. Salim Belcadi third place trophy. Allan She was given the top U1200 trophy.
The tie breaking formula used was Swiss Sys performance ratings under "Canada".
